IT 419

IT 419 (Enterprise Cyber Defense) is one of the Application Courses that I chose to fulfill my requirements for ODU’s Cybersecurity Program. This course provides students with an awareness of the options available to mitigate security threats in enterprise information systems. Topics include network mapping, network security techniques and components, applications of cryptography, malicious activity detection, countermeasures, and vulnerability scanning. Students will also learn how to describe potential attacks, defense tools and methods, and measures to be taken when compromises occur.

The objective of this course is to provide an environment where students can learn and demonstrate the skills necessary for enterprise cyber defense. After completing this course, I was able to describe potential system attacks and the actors that might perform them, describe cyber defense tools, methods, and components, implement cyber defense methods to prepare a system to repel attacks, and describe appropriate measures to be taken should a system compromise occur.

One of our Assignments is about Firewall. In this assignment, we are tasked to configure our pfSense firewall appliance with rules. This report explains the use and usefulness of the pfSense firewall for protecting a network, specifically, how to configure the firewall and add rules for allowing and denying traffic and how a firewall can be used to protect a network from misuse while allowing legitimate users to get the work done that they need to.
