IDS 300W

IDS 300W (Interdisciplinary Theory and Concepts) is one of the Cybersecurity Writing Intensive Courses that I needed to take in order to complete the ODU’s Cybersecurity program. This course includes an analysis of similarities and differences in academic disciplines and the application of interdisciplinary approaches to a specific topic of study. The main goal of this course is to challenge our ability to use an interdisciplinary approach to study problems and improve our writing skills. This course also tests our ability to effectively use critical thinking skills in dealing with issues.

Throughout the whole duration of this course, we were given weekly reflections where we are required to think critically and write clearly about the readings and resources, we reviewed in each content module.  We were also given Workshops where we deeply explored one or more components of the IDS research process and applied those concepts to a topic on which we focused our inquiry throughout the semester.

By the end of the semester, we were tasked to write 8 pages of reports. This paper required us to perform extensive research into a query related to the course readings. This paper is to sharpen our research and writing skills using multi- and interdisciplinary theories and concepts.

For my paper, I decided to choose the topic of Internet Regulation. Specifically, I addressed the issue on what impact does Internet regulation brings if the United States Government decides to regulate it.
