CYSE 494

CYSE 494 (Entrepreneurship in Cybersecurity) is one of the Capstone Courses that I needed to take for the ODU’s Cybersecurity Program. This course is a course designed to help students enhance their personal and professional development through innovation guided by faculty members and professionals.  This course offers students an opportunity to integrate disciplinary theory and knowledge through developing a nonprofit program, product, business, or other initiative. The real-world experiences that entrepreneurships provide will help students understand how academic knowledge leads to transformations, innovations, and solutions to different types of problems.

Throughout the duration of the course, we are tasked to create a proposal for an innovation, write an academic paper, create a journal of our entrepreneurship experience, watch BYOB sessions and create a reflection about it, and create a group’s pitch video about our innovation.

A pitch is a presentation made by one or more people to an investor or group of investors. The goal of creating a pitch is to showcase the innovation you created to a group of investors and also generally to secure the resources and funding necessary to move forward with a business plan.

In this video, our group explained our innovation which is to develop an application that will assist home users or companies in maintaining their systems and company/personal data, while also reminding users of the steps they need to take to help prevent computer hackings. Also, in this video, we talked about the summary of the problem, description of the innovation, and an overview of how the innovation addresses the problem.
