CYSE 407

CYSE 407 (Digital Forensics) is one of the Application Courses that I took for the ODU’s Cybersecurity Program. This course introduces the basic concepts and technologies of digital forensics. The main goal of this course is for students to learn the fundamental techniques and tools utilized for collecting, processing, and preserving digital evidence on computers, mobile devices, networks, and cloud computing environments.

Throughout the duration of the course, we are assigned to do weekly discussion boards where we analyze and think critically about the topics that surround the digital forensics world. We are also asked to engage in oral and written communication to report forensic findings and prepare court presentation materials through our midterm and final paper. There are also weekly labs that serve as hands-on practice for students who are truly interested in Digital Forensics.

For our final paper, we did the Digital Forensics Report. In my report, I exhibited what a case investigator will do if they obtain pieces of digital items. I demonstrated how they will examine it and on how to create a report like a Digital Forensics investigator.
